This is one of the fairy tales about "Grandfather Frost", in Russian "Ded Moroz" or Morozko/Morov in its most negative meaning, which is also the case in this fairy tale, where he is represented as a malignant character generally.
.
Plot: A humble girl lives with her father, stepmother and stepsister. To get rid of her, her stepmother convinces her father to abandon her in an isolated area at the mercy of the frost. Grandfather Frost shows up to the girl ready to freeze her, but with her kindness she manages to make him love her, and he brings her gifts: first a fur coat to warm her from the cold, then a trunk full of gifts and finally a dress made of gold and silver. The girl returns home with all those riches and then the stepmother also sends her daughter to Grandfather Frost, who however sends her home frozen to death.
